Directly from his website, Gary Vee (aka Gary Vaynerchuk) is a serial entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of VaynerMedia, a full-service digital agency servicing Fortune 500 clients across the company’s four locations in the United States and Europe.
We pulled a few key insights from his keynote speech at the Dublin Tech Summit where he frames the conversation between two ideas: clouds and dirt.
Gary Vee splits individuals into two camps.
Clouds, as he describes, are those who talk in theory and lack being a practitioner.
Others are in the dirt, those who are 100% practitioners and know how everything works. Having both the clouds and dirt are essential pieces to your organization.
Without the ability to have individuals in the ‘clouds,’ who are focused on the big picture strategy side of the business, you will lack the vision and guidance needed to push into the future. If you find your business has too many ‘dirt’ individuals you will only be focusing on what is directly in front of you.
Without people in the clouds and people in the dirt, your business will struggle and likely even fail.
Clouds and Dirt ties to my early career journey where I found myself overly worried that I needed to improve anything that even appeared as a weakness.
After consistently being unable to fix things, that were out of my control, I realized I needed to build a team that focused on strengths. I quickly found that as our teams across Morales Group focused on strengths, we continued to improve.
The more you can focus on your greatness, the more confidence, results and even output you will find.
