Service Technician in Indianapolis, IN. 


The Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned, in accordance with dealer and manufacturer standards. He/She also, will oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her


  • Receives repair orders (RO’s) from the dispatcher and takes vehicle to the work stall area.
  • Completes a thorough inspection of vehicle, fills out the inspection sheet and takes the written estimate to the Service Advisor
  • Determines the cause of any malfunction; uses function test or test drive as necessary
  • Provides a written estimate for labor and parts
  • Provides a diagnostic estimate if necessary
  • Performs requested labor operations using recommended procedures, tools, and equipment in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
  • Orders and obtains parts according to dealership procedures
  • Documents work performed as well as applicable technical information
  • Advises the Service Advisor immediately of any addition needed work, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised
  • Cleans all parts that have been worked on and keeps vehicles clean
  • Saves and tags all parts replaced if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Road tests all repaired vehicles, keeping in mind that customer vehicles may not be used for personal errands
  • Supervises the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
  • Attends all manufacturer sponsored training classes. keeps abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Keeps shop work areas neat and clean at all times
  • Maintains and accounts for all tools and equipment at all times
  • Returns tools to proper storage areas after repairs are completed
  • Understands and complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be able to bend, lift and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk around the facility constantly
  • Must be able to move 75-100 pounds of material
  • Associates degree (2 year tech school)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • No DUI’s in past 7 years
  • Must be able to work overtime if needed


  • $17-$30 an hour depending on experience


  • 8am-5pm Mon-Fri
