As we close out our Greatriarchs spotlights this Black History Month, we are honored to recognize one final leader whose legacy continues to shape our city and beyond.
Eunice Trotter’s story reflects the power of courage, conviction, and commitment to truth. Inspired by the strength and presence found in the work of Barkley L. Hendricks, her portrait captures the same unafraid and watchful spirit that has defined her career in journalism.
From her early days at The Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper to becoming the first African American editor at The IndyStar, and through her leadership at publications across the country, Eunice has shaped how stories are told and whose voices are elevated. Her work reminds us that preserving history and telling the truth are acts of service to future generations.
As our corporate office continues to call Martindale Brightwood home, we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from the Greatriarchs and to honor the neighbors whose stories built this community. Their leadership, creativity, and resilience reflect the very belief that guides our mission to build better futures, one story at a time.

At this month’s LEGOS meeting, we gathered together to celebrate Black History Month and reflect on the impact of the Black community in the neighborhood surrounding our new corporate headquarters.
We were honored to recognize the work of Andre Parnell, the Harrison Center 2027 Greatriarch artist, and highlight his contributions throughout Indianapolis. Andre generously allowed us to display one of his pieces, Sister Jaded, in our office for the occasion, creating space for reflection, conversation, and appreciation.
We also shared a great meal catered by Eatin' Good Catering. Thank you to the owner, Toni Marie, for helping us celebrate the day while supporting local Black entrepreneurship in our community.
During the meeting, our leadership team shared updates on the strong momentum happening across Morales Group. As we continue leaning into our 2026 rally cry, Built to Win, we reflected on the goals we’ve already begun achieving this year and the intentional design behind our growth. Built to Win is not about doing more for the sake of it. It’s about focusing on what we do best, strengthening our processes, improving margins, and executing with clarity. From sales performance to operational improvements, our teams are turning the foundation we built into measurable results.
We also welcomed new teammates to the Morales Group family and took time to recognize the people who make our mission possible every day.
Moments like these remind us that when we gather as one team to celebrate culture, purpose, and progress, we continue Building Better Futures, One Story at a Time.

Our next Greatriarchs spotlight honors Mattie Kates, a lifelong Martindale Brightwood resident whose creativity and generosity have left a lasting mark on her neighborhood.
Miss Mattie believes that art is a beautiful thing meant to be shared and enjoyed with others. Known as an incredible seamstress, she has worked with textiles for more than fifty years. Her passion began with a 4 H course at historic School 26 and by watching her grandmother quilt. From that foundation, she built a lifetime of craftsmanship rooted in precision, patience, and care.
Her portrait draws inspiration from Charles Robert Searles and his painting In Front of the Store. With its quilt like composition, vibrant colors, and careful seams, the piece reflects both her artistry and the fabric of her life woven into Yandes Street, where she and her family have lived for generations. Even within the Greatriarchs project, her story is stitched closely to others, including relatives Miss Pearl and Miss Jimmie Luton.
After retiring from a 38 year career as an administrative assistant, Miss Mattie continues to share her gifts with friends, family, and neighbors through wearable and functional pieces ranging from masks to quilts.
