Celebrating Black History

Celebrating Black History Month at Morales Group
This February, Morales Group took the time to honor Black History Month with a month-long celebration that highlighted the richness of Black culture, history, and contributions. Our Black community group within the Morales Unidos Network (MUN), in collaboration with our Culture Committee, curated a series of meaningful events designed to engage, educate, and inspire our team. We believe in the power of learning and the importance of celebrating diversity, and this month offered the perfect opportunity to come together as a company and reflect on these values.
Curated Resources for Learning + Reflection
Throughout the month, we provided a carefully selected list of resources to help our teammates dive deeper into Black history and culture. This included podcasts, books, articles, and videos featuring Black creators, thought leaders, and artists. By offering these materials, we aimed to inspire reflection and broaden perspectives, encouraging everyone to engage with diverse voices and narratives that may not always be highlighted in mainstream discussions. These resources served as tools for personal growth, sparking meaningful conversations both within teams and across the company.

Udemy Course Highlight: “History of Black Hair: The Beauty and Politic of Black Hair”
From ancient times in Africa, during enslavement, throughout the Diaspora, to the present, “Black hair” has had its own meaning(s). This course offers the opportunity to explore multiple cultural
lessons about hair and life.
Fun + Engaging Activities
In addition to educational resources, we organized several fun and interactive events to get everyone involved. Our Black History Month Bingo was one of the highlights. This event encouraged teammates to explore and support local Black-owned businesses while completing challenges for a chance to win a raffle prize. It was a wonderful way to connect with the community while promoting economic empowerment for Black entrepreneurs.
We also held weekly trivia sessions that tested our knowledge of Black history and culture. This was a fun and engaging way for teammates to learn new facts and compete for prizes. Winners received AwardCo points or gifts from MXP Shop, a Black-owned candle business. These activities not only made learning enjoyable but also helped foster team spirit and support for Black-owned businesses.
Why Black History Month Matters
Black History Month is a crucial time to reflect on the profound impact of Black individuals and recognize their contributions to society, art, politics, science, and culture. It’s a chance to honor the achievements and perseverance of the Black community while acknowledging the struggles they have faced. This month provides an opportunity for us all to reflect on the work that still needs to be done in building a more equitable and inclusive world.
At Morales Group, we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and support for all communities. Black History Month serves as a reminder of why it’s essential to continually uplift and celebrate the voices that have shaped our world. We are proud to have come together as a company this month to celebrate Black culture, and we are excited to carry that momentum forward in our daily work and interactions throughout the year.
